Meet Amanda Rice
About Me
Hi there! My name is Amanda, and I'm the founder of Legato Music and Yoga. I am a violin and yoga instructor based in St. Paul, Minnesota. I was born in Trinidad and Tobago, and moved to Minnesota in 2016 to attend graduate school at the University of Minnesota Duluth, from which I graduated with a Master of Music in Music Education. I am particularly interested in wellness for musicians, and my graduate thesis was on the benefits of yoga and meditation for musicians with performance anxiety.

I also have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performing Arts, specializing in Music, and a Diploma in Western Classical Music, both from the University of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of West Indies.

I have been teaching the violin privately for the past ten years, and I am passionate about working with children, and about musicians' wellness. I am a 200 hour certified yoga teacher, and currently teach yoga with the online studio, Yoga for All Musicians (YAM). I offer individual violin lessons, small group violin lessons, and individual yoga and meditation sessions. I value teaching with compassion and helping students to build confidence through our lessons, and I love building relationships with my students!

When I'm not teaching and practicing, I'm usually spending time with my husband and our dogs, reading, doing yoga, and crocheting!
